Smoker

52" x 42"
Oil on Canvas
2010

We smoke and smoking becomes our habit.  When we get bored, or nervous, the first gesture is to pull out the cigarette, that fills our lungs with wonderful smoke and at the same time, it fills up a void inside us.  On occasion, man feels himself more manly;  woman feels herself more attractive when she holds a long cigarette holder with three fingers, blowing thin stream of smoke which rising, becomes a cloud.

In my painting, cloud looks stormy and threatening and ready to shed a rain.  What rain?    Who knows?
